Floway’s smart flower vending machines nominated for “Dižprojekts 2025”
We are delighted that Pierīgas Partnerība has nominated our project, “Floway smart flower vending machines”, for the Latvian Rural Forum’s “Dižprojekts 2025” competition.

In this competition, Latvia’s local partnerships highlight projects they are proud of and show how LEADER support helps develop businesses and services in the regions. This year, Floway represents Pierīgas Partnerība in the competition.
Smart flower vending machines in Mārupe Municipality
Our story began with a wish to offer fresh flowers in places where a florist is not always on the way, and at times when it is already closed. With LEADER support, we installed flower vending machines in Mārupe Municipality with remote management and cashless payments. They let customers choose and collect a florist-made bouquet themselves, at any time of day or night.
The Latvian Rural Forum’s project overview highlights our approach as an example of modernising a traditional industry. Floway’s florists still create every bouquet, while technology helps make flowers available in more places and at times that suit customers.
For us, technology should help people’s work reach more customers, rather than replace it. The machine is simply the final stage of a bouquet’s journey from the florist’s hands to the moment someone receives their flowers.
Support that helps an idea grow
Both an ALTUM start-up loan and LEADER funding have played an important part in our development. With an ALTUM start-up loan we purchased three new flower vending machines, while LEADER project co-financing was used to buy two more. By nominating Floway for “Dižprojekts 2025”, Pierīgas Partnerība chose our project as an example of LEADER’s work in its area. It is an opportunity for us to share our experience and show that even a seemingly simple idea can become a modern, practical service.
